“The Community Foundation was created by and for the people of Washington County, MD and exists to improve the quality of life for all of our citizens, now and for generations to come, by building community endowments, addressing needs through grant making and providing leadership on key community issues.”

The Foundation sponsors Washington County Gives every May. The event is an online fundraising drive for local non-profits. For 24 hours, people go online and choose a non-profit to which they make a monetary donation. One of the side effects of the drive is an increased interest in what non-profits exist in Washington County and how people can contact them.

The Non-Profit Directory is specifically designed for local individuals who have reached out to the Foundation looking for more information about local non-profits. These individuals want to provide volunteer or financial support but are not sure where to give their support.
